The first modern facility for seniors in Jamaica and the Caribbean. The aim of Webster Memorial Church, as a self-sustaining mission, provide a home-like Christian environment that physically and aesthetically promotes and provides services to assist the residents with enhanced daily living and improvement in their health status

About the Home

The journey of a million miles begins with a single step. An idea is born, a seed is planted and the tree grows. Rev. John Dunlop had a vision for the Church to establish a Retirement Home for its senior members. 20 years later, Rev. J Oliver Daley gathered a group of persons from the Church with whom he worked tirelessly to bring this idea to fruition.

We acknowledge Mr. Gladstone Pottinger, Mrs. Syringa Marshall-Burnett, Sylvia Owen (all deceased) and Mr. Al Adams, for their pioneering work in the establishment of the Home.

Background

1 The Beginning

Rolph Grant Senior Citizens' Home, named after Mr. Rolph Grant, was a committed member, an Elder and a Superintendent of the Sunday School.

2 Challenges

Prior to closure, the Home enjoyed full occupancy, with an average occupancy of 29 out of 30 beds.

3 Members' Support

The Home enjoyed support from members of Webster and the United Church in general and the public at large. Prior to the closure, the Home received generous donations of cash and kind from sponsors and as well as hosting fundraising events.

5 Competitive Rates

The Home is known for offering competitive rates to its clients, this will also be maintained when the new and elevated Home is re-opened.

6 New Elevated Outlook

We opined that major refurbishing and re-branding needed to be undertaken, to bring to the market, a newer more modern multifaceted Senior Citizens' Complex attuned to first world living standards.

As this mission is being built with the family in mind, as far as is possible, we will be utilizing the skillsets of members in bringing this project to life. And to have members volunteer and or partner with the management of the Home in offering the best health and independent living services and support services in operating the Home.
